NEW DELHI: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks at a group event during his three-day visit to Israel in July, he will again address citizens of Indian descent abroad. It is estimated that as many as 4,000 Jews from the Israel-settled country will attend. His last such occurrence was in Kenya almost a year ago.

The foreign department of the Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Vijay Chauthaiwale, is engaged in elaborate preparations for the event to be held on July 5 at the Convention Centre in Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel. The first Indian PM to visit Israel will be Modi.

“We expect the program to be attended by a crowd of around 4,000 Indian Jews who have migrated to Israel,” Chauthaiwale told ET.

In Israel, an estimated 70,000 Indian Jews belonging to four separate communities are settled: Bene Israel, Cochinis, Baghdadis, and Bnei Menashe. Around 10,000 nurses from the nation are temporary residents working there, keeping Indian passports.
