‘Jews greatly contributed to India’s development, says, history scholar

According to Pushkar Sohoni, a researcher in Historic Preservation, Islamic Architecture, and Indo-Persian Cultural History, the Jewish population has made significant contributions to India’s development through its culture, architecture, and arts.

“Since they arrived in India, they have been at the forefront of bringing development through numerous establishments, hospitals, and institutions built in and around Pune, Mumbai, and coastal towns in Konkan,” Sohoni said recently at a public talk on Jewish heritage structures hosted by the Marathi Vidnyan Parishad and the Indian Institute of Science, Education, and Research (IISER), Pune.

Sassoon General Hospital, Nivara Sanstha in Pune, Kala Ghoda, and Masheed Bandar in Konkan are some of the other structures established by the community.
