The Israelis have pioneered many things in recent years: an unstoppable tank division, coining the name “Hummus Trail,” and of course, LSD in their religious ceremonies. We’ll explore why so many Jews in Israel use psychedelics to enrich their spirituality. In our discussions, we will review the counterculture hippies of the 1960s and 1970s and how Jews went to India in the 1960s and 1970s to explore spirituality after they came back from World War II with a post-traumatic need to cope. We will also discuss how many Israelis go to India to deal with PTSD and processing post-army life.
