India has been home to Jewish groups who have been persecuted for a long time. One of them is the Bene Israel, which has been around for more than 2,000 years now.
Of course, India has always been open to a wide range of religions. This place is the birthplace or home of at least three major religions, as well as a place of refuge for many other people.
St. Thomas, the Zoroastrians fleeing persecution in Iran, and the Bnei Menashe were some of the people who came to the United States from Iran (one of the lost tribes of Israel that found their home in northeast India). India is still the world’s largest democracy that is religiously and ethnically diverse. The Bene Israel may have been able to stay there for a long time because of this.
